Ariana Leaves San Francisco

by Martha Morales

This book was written to help children conquer their fear of moving away and to understand no matter where they live, home will always be where people love them.

Ariana is a baby sea lion who lives at Pier 39 with her parents.   One day, Ariana’s mother tells her that their family plans to move to Oregon to care for Ariana’s grandfather.  This news makes little Ariana very upset!  However, Ariana realizes during the her trip and arrival in Oregon that as long as she is with her family, life will always be an adventure.

The story tracks the journey of sea lions from
San Francisco to Oregon that occurred in
December 2009.

Martha Morales is a mother and wife who lives and works in the San Francisco Bay area. She earned a degree in business and psychology from Tulane University.

Martha’s professional writing experience includes multiple drab, unimaginative (and sometimes downright depressing) reports, which she worries may be eroding her imagination and turning her into a grown-up.  As a result, she tries to write several creative stories a year.
